ELECTRÉN renews its research contract with UC3M
Our company has renewed its previous contact with Madrid’s Universidad Carlos III, signed in 2010, for a further four years. The renewal of the agreement reflects ELECTRÉN’s commitment to research and development in the field of railways.
The research team currently brings together Professor Javier Sánz, from UC3M, who supervises various students (including a student preparing a doctorate and a post-doctorate student), and a team from the technical divisions of ELECTRÉN, who are involved in RDI processes. ARSIA SISTEMAS provides the coordination necessary for the practical application of the models developed at the University and the extraction of real data which the students can use.
Among the results of this cooperation are the generation of an algorithm (MATLAB, currently in version 2) and the development of the Electrail software (Java) to model the electric system used for traction on Spanish railways. The real data provided by ELECTRÉN have been used to develop the models (for both conventional DC lines and a high-speed AC line), which have been verified by tests on the Girona-Sant Miquel de Fluviá-Llançà railway section.
